I am using an online software with a download-able desktop client called "Think or Swim". You can get an account at thinkorswim.com and be on your way in no time.
One of the main reasons I like this client is the papermoney version of it. You can learn to use the software and play with real stock value and not use a dime. It is great for trying new systems before putting your money to work in the real market.
They have a partnership with investools and use their charting mechanism Prophet, one of the best I've found yet.
